Rocky Point Canyons at the northern tip of Ambergris Caye offers intermediate divers an exciting exploration of the reef's spur-and-groove formations where the barrier reef meets the Yucatan current. The canyons are shallower here than further south, typically 10 to 20 meters, but the current brings nutrient-rich water that supports abundant marine life. Green and loggerhead turtles are commonly seen, along with large schools of horse-eye jacks and permit. The remoteness of this northern section means fewer boats and a more wilderness-like diving experience along Belize's spectacular reef system.
