Xcalak's most famous dive — a wide passage through the barrier reef where enormous tarpon up to 2 meters long gather in mesmerizing schools. Hovering among dozens of these prehistoric-looking silver giants is unforgettable. Manatees are spotted regularly, along with snappers, barracudas, trevally, and eagle rays in the current-swept channel.
