
Sugar Reef is a beginner-friendly dive near Manzanillo on Costa Rica's southern Caribbean coast. This shallow reef within the Gandoca-Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge features gentle slopes covered with healthy hard corals, brain corals, and colorful sponges. The reef attracts a diverse array of Caribbean species including butterflyfish, wrasses, and trumpetfish, while green moray eels and spiny lobsters occupy the reef crevices.
