Sugar Reef

Sugar Reef is a beginner-friendly dive near Manzanillo on Costa Rica's southern Caribbean coast. This shallow reef within the Gandoca-Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge features gentle slopes covered with healthy hard corals, brain corals, and colorful sponges. The reef attracts a diverse array of Caribbean species including butterflyfish, wrasses, and trumpetfish, while green moray eels and spiny lobsters occupy the reef crevices. The protected refuge waters provide excellent visibility and calm conditions, making Sugar Reef an enjoyable and accessible dive for all experience levels in one of Costa Rica's best-preserved Caribbean reef systems.
