Barco del Arroz is an advanced shallow wreck dive near Almuñécar on Spain's Costa Tropical, featuring the remains of a rice cargo vessel at just 6 meters depth. Despite its shallow profile, the site is rated advanced due to potential surge and surf conditions that can make access challenging. The wreck's metal skeleton has been heavily colonized by marine life, creating a compact but fascinating artificial reef. Moray eels, octopuses, and nudibranchs inhabit the wreckage, while schools of damselfish and bream swirl around the structure. The shallow depth allows extended bottom time and makes for excellent snorkeling when conditions are calm, offering a unique historical dive along the Granada coast.
