El Galeon is a challenging wreck dive site located off the coast near Estepona on Spain's Costa del Sol. This advanced-level site features the remains of a sunken vessel resting on a sandy bottom, now transformed into an artificial reef teeming with marine life. The wreck's superstructure is encrusted with barnacles, mussels, and colorful sponges, while large conger eels and moray eels inhabit the interior compartments. Schools of bream and amberjack circle the wreck, and during summer months, sunfish (mola mola) are occasionally spotted in the open water nearby. Moderate currents and limited visibility require good buoyancy control.
