Las Gorgonias is a spectacular dive site in the Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park, named for its extraordinary gardens of gorgonian sea fans that sway in the Mediterranean currents. This beginner-friendly site features rocky volcanic formations draped in large yellow and red gorgonian colonies, creating one of the most visually stunning underwater landscapes in southeastern Spain. The gorgonians provide habitat for seahorses, nudibranchs, and small crustaceans, while the surrounding reef attracts groupers, moray eels, and schools of Mediterranean fish. The protected park waters ensure exceptional clarity, often exceeding 25 meters, making Las Gorgonias an underwater photographer's paradise and a must-dive in Almería.
