Söderskär is an advanced dive site near the Söderskär lighthouse island in the outer Helsinki archipelago. This exposed location in the open Gulf of Finland offers dramatic underwater topography with steep granite walls plunging into deep water. Strong currents and waves can develop, demanding solid open-water skills and situational awareness. The nutrient-rich waters support diverse Baltic marine life, including large schools of herring, flounder, and the occasional grey seal patrol. The lighthouse island itself is a protected bird sanctuary, adding to the site's natural significance. Best dived in calm summer conditions with experienced boat support.
