Tornionsalmi is a beginner-friendly strait dive in Southern Finland, where the narrow passage between islands creates gentle currents that make for an easy and enjoyable drift dive. The strait's rocky bottom is covered with typical Baltic reef life — bladderwrack, blue mussels, and barnacles create a colourful carpet over the granite substrate. Schools of perch and sticklebacks move through the current, and the occasional flounder rests camouflaged on the sandy patches. The site's shallow depth and protected nature make it ideal for training dives and relaxed exploration, with shore access available from either side of the strait.
