Main Channel is a beginner-friendly dive through Yap's primary reef channel, one of the most important dive sites in Micronesia for manta ray encounters. The wide channel funnels tidal water between the ocean and lagoon, creating cleaning stations where resident manta rays come to have parasites removed by cleaner wrasses. Divers settle on the sandy channel floor and watch as mantas glide overhead in graceful circuits, sometimes approaching within arm's reach. The channel itself features healthy reef walls with good coral cover. Yap's manta population is resident year-round, making Main Channel one of the world's most reliable manta dive sites, accessible to divers of all levels.
