Gyllyngvase Beach (Gylly Beach) is a popular beginner shore dive in Falmouth, Cornwall, offering easy sandy beach access to a gently sloping seabed reaching around 10 meters depth. Rocky outcrops and patches of kelp provide habitat for wrasse, cuttlefish, blennies, crabs, and various anemones. The sheltered position of Falmouth Bay often provides calm conditions and reasonable visibility. The sandy entry and gradual depth increase make it ideal for training dives and building open water confidence. Gylly Beach is a staple site for Falmouth-based dive operators and clubs, offering a reliable option when more exposed Cornish sites are inaccessible. Night dives here can reveal nocturnal species including octopus and squat lobsters.

Absolutely stunning dive site. The visibility was exceptional and we spotted several species we had never seen before. Will definitely come back.
Great spot for advanced divers. Currents can be tricky but the marine life makes it worth it.
One of the best dive sites in the region. Highly recommended.
