The Grotte aux Tarpons takes its name from the resident school of tarpon that holds in the shadow of a large cliff-base grotto, and the dive is justifiably one of the highlight moments of the Grande Vigie cluster. Depth runs to around 30 metres with the grotto itself in the 18-to-25-metre range. The tarpons gather in a loose silver curtain along the wall, and smaller reef fauna fills the rest of the chamber. Accessible only from June to October, typically waitlist-managed given the 40-minute boat ride and limited daily slots.
