Le Piton de la Grande Vigie is an oceanic pinnacle rising off the extreme northern tip of Grande-Terre, in the Caribbean Sea on the west side of the cape. The profile runs from around 15 metres on the top of the pinnacle down to 25 metres on the outer slope, with Caribbean blue water all around. Eagle rays and barracudas are regulars, jacks chase baitfish in the blue, and groupers hold the pinnacle's lower ledges. Accessible only in summer (Jun-Oct) when the north swell calms, and typically waitlisted given the 40-minute boat ride. A Caribbean classic when the conditions align.
