The Jardin de Petit-Canal is another gentle, inside-reserve reef of the Grand Cul-de-Sac Marin, a short boat ride south of Port-Louis. Coral bommies rise from the sand at around 17 metres up to a few metres below the surface, and the whole site is typical of the shallow, fish-rich diving that made the Grand Cul-de-Sac famous. Expect creole wrasses in motion over the coral, pairs of French angelfish, groupers tucked into ledges, and the occasional hawksbill turtle drifting through. Entirely comfortable for Open Water divers and ideal as a second dive of the day.
