The Balise de Petit-Canal is one of the shallow, sheltered sites inside the Grand Cul-de-Sac Marin, the vast lagoon protected by the longest coral barrier of the Lesser Antilles. Named after a navigational marker that sits on the reef, this dive works rocky formations interspersed with sand patches and sponge growth down to about 12 metres. Perfect for new divers and for a relaxed second dive of the day. Visibility is modest but the fish density more than compensates. The Grand Cul-de-Sac is a protected area, so touch and take nothing: the reserve is what keeps the reef looking this alive.
