Ammoudi Reef is a beginner-friendly reef dive near Plakias on the south coast of Crete, featuring a healthy rocky reef system in the clear Mediterranean waters. The reef's limestone formations create a varied underwater landscape of boulders, ledges, and sandy channels inhabited by typical Cretan marine species. Octopuses, moray eels, wrasse, sea bream, and colorful nudibranchs are regularly encountered. The shallow to moderate depth and calm bay conditions make it an accessible and enjoyable dive for all levels. Ammoudi Reef represents the quality of everyday Mediterranean reef diving available along Crete's south coast — nothing extreme, but consistently pleasant and biologically rich.
