Potteries is a beginner-friendly dive site near the island of Kos in the Dodecanese, named for ancient pottery fragments scattered across the seabed. These archaeological remnants from centuries of maritime trade create an underwater museum where divers can observe amphora pieces, ceramic shards, and occasional intact vessels among the natural reef formations. Marine life is abundant around the pottery: octopus hide inside amphora necks, blennies nest in broken vessels, and sponges colonize the ancient ceramics. The easy depth and calm conditions make it accessible to all levels. A uniquely cultural diving experience that showcases the rich maritime heritage of the eastern Aegean.
