Sistiana - Molch is a beginner-friendly dive site in the Bay of Sistiana near Trieste, featuring the submerged remains of a World War II German Molch midget submarine. This one-man torpedo-shaped submarine, used during the final stages of the war in the Adriatic, rests in shallow water where it has become a fascinating historical artifact and artificial reef. The submarine's compact hull is now encrusted with sponges and algae, attracting small fish and invertebrates. The surrounding rocky seabed features typical Adriatic marine life with gobies, blennies, and sea bream among the algae-covered boulders. The shallow depth and sheltered bay conditions make this accessible to new divers, while the WWII historical significance adds a compelling dimension. Sistiana - Molch is one of the most historically interesting beginner-level dive sites in the Adriatic, combining wartime history with gentle Mediterranean diving.
