Il Camino is an advanced dive site off the Puglia coast near Gallipoli, named for its chimney-like rock formation that rises from the seabed to 22 meters depth. The main feature is a vertical shaft penetrating the reef structure, creating a natural chimney effect where divers can ascend through a narrow passage framed by encrusted walls. The surrounding reef is rich with Mediterranean gorgonians, colorful sponges, and dense colonies of bryozoans. Moray eels, octopuses, and lobsters inhabit the many crevices, while schools of damselfish hover around the chimney's upper opening. The site's unique vertical architecture and the play of light through the shaft make it a memorable dive for experienced divers exploring Puglia's Ionian coastline.
