Terme del Lacus is a unique shallow dive in the volcanic Campi Flegrei area near Naples, where ancient Roman thermal baths lie partially submerged at depths of just a few meters. Volcanic activity continues to warm the water from below, creating temperature gradients that shimmer like underwater mirages. The Roman stonework is colonized by marine organisms adapted to the warm, mineral-rich conditions. At a maximum depth of only 5 meters, this is one of Italy's most accessible archaeological dives — a magical place where Roman engineering, active volcanism, and marine life coexist.
