Tonnara del Secco is a beginner-friendly dive off Favignana, set near the remains of a historic tuna trap that once formed part of the island's famous mattanza tradition. The old tonnara structures provide artificial reef habitat where octopus, moray eels, and dense schools of fish congregate. Posidonia meadows surround the rocky areas, sheltering juvenile fish and seahorses. The cultural significance of Favignana's tuna fishing heritage adds a poignant dimension to this accessible dive, where maritime tradition and marine conservation now coexist in the Egadi marine reserve.
