Japanese Garden is an intermediate dive site in Aqaba, Jordan, renowned for its beautifully structured coral formations that resemble the careful arrangement of a traditional Japanese garden. The reef descends to 20 meters over terraced levels where an extraordinary diversity of hard corals — table, brain, staghorn, and finger varieties — create a naturally landscaped underwater environment. Soft corals in gentle pastel hues accent the hard coral architecture. The site is a haven for marine photographers, with opportunities ranging from wide-angle coral vistas to macro shots of nudibranchs and tiny gobies. Schools of surgeonfish and unicornfish graze the reef, while pairs of bannerfish and butterflyfish add movement and color. Green turtles are among the site's most popular residents, often allowing close approaches. Japanese Garden's combination of aesthetic beauty, biodiversity, and moderate conditions makes it consistently ranked among Aqaba's finest dives.
