Ito is an intermediate dive site on the eastern coast of the Izu Peninsula in Shizuoka Prefecture, one of the most popular diving areas in the Tokyo metropolitan region. The site features volcanic rock formations descending to 23 meters over a diverse underwater terrain of boulders, sand, and reef structures. The Kuroshio Current's influence brings warm-water species into these temperate waters, creating a fascinating ecological crossroads. The site is particularly renowned for its seasonal highlights: frogfish sightings in autumn, massive spider crab aggregations in winter, and tropical fish visitors in summer. Nudibranchs are a constant attraction year-round, with dozens of species decorating the rocky surfaces. Seahorses can be found clinging to gorgonian fans, and octopuses are frequently spotted hunting among the boulders. Ito's proximity to Tokyo and reliable marine life encounters make it one of the most-dived sites in all of Japan.
