Kelly's Caverns is an advanced dive site on Grand Cayman's south coast, where a complex cavern system at 18 metres offers penetration diving experiences in the warm, clear Cayman waters. The extensive overhead environment, with multiple chambers connected by tunnels and archways, provides some of the best cavern diving on Grand Cayman outside of the famous Eden Rock system. The cavern system is formed within the ironshore limestone that characterises the Cayman Islands' geological structure. Millennia of water erosion have carved out interconnected chambers of varying sizes, from intimate passages that require single-file transit to larger halls where several divers can gather comfortably. Multiple entry and exit points ensure that natural light is visible from most positions within the system, maintaining a margin of safety. The cavern interiors are decorated with marine life that thrives in the low-light conditions. Sponges and tunicates in vivid colours coat the ceiling and walls, while soft corals extend their polyps to feed on particles carried by the gentle flow through the tunnels. Lobsters retreat into the deepest crevices, their antennae emerging as warning signals to approaching divers. Moray eels find the cavern environment particularly hospitable, with multiple specimens typically in residence. Silversides school within the cavern chambers during their seasonal peak, creating the dense silver curtains that are one of the signature spectacles of Cayman diving. Swimming through a cloud of thousands of tiny fish as they part around you, with shafts of natural light catching their silver scales, is an experience that ranks among the most magical in recreational diving. The advanced rating reflects the overhead environment rather than depth, and divers should be comfortable with limited exit options and possess excellent buoyancy control. Silting out the cavern floor with careless fin technique can rapidly reduce visibility inside the chambers. The cavern system at Kelly's is best experienced with a guide familiar with the layout, ensuring safe and efficient navigation through the highlights.

Absolutely stunning dive site. The visibility was exceptional and we spotted several species we had never seen before. Will definitely come back.
Great spot for advanced divers. Currents can be tricky but the marine life makes it worth it.
One of the best dive sites in the region. Highly recommended.
