Cirkewwa Paradise Bay Reef is a beginner-friendly shore dive at the northern tip of Malta, near the Gozo ferry terminal. This easily accessible site provides a convenient and rewarding introduction to Maltese diving, with a gentle reef slope, clear water, and diverse marine life all within a short distance of the shore entry. The site is accessed from the Paradise Bay beach, with a straightforward entry into the sheltered bay. The reef extends from the rocky sides of the bay, with a gentle slope descending over mixed terrain of rock, sand, and Posidonia seagrass beds. The gradual profile allows divers to explore at their preferred depth. The reef supports healthy Mediterranean marine communities, with the rocky substrate providing diverse habitats. Sponges, algae, and small colonies of false coral colour the rock surfaces, while the seagrass beds in the sandy areas host their own distinct community of organisms. The transition between habitats creates biodiversity hot spots where species from different ecosystems overlap. Marine life at Paradise Bay includes the friendly species that make Maltese diving so approachable. Ornate wrasses, rainbow wrasses, and painted combers work the reef, while damselfish hover in protective formations above their territory. Octopuses are regularly spotted, and the sandy areas sometimes reveal flying gurnards displaying their spectacular wing-like pectoral fins. The beginner rating reflects the easy shore access, gentle depth, and sheltered bay conditions. The proximity to the Gozo ferry terminal makes this a convenient first or last dive when travelling between the islands. Visibility typically exceeds 25 metres in Malta's clear waters. Water temperatures range from 15 to 26 degrees. Paradise Bay Reef is an excellent starting point for exploring Malta's renowned diving.

Absolutely stunning dive site. The visibility was exceptional and we spotted several species we had never seen before. Will definitely come back.
Great spot for advanced divers. Currents can be tricky but the marine life makes it worth it.
One of the best dive sites in the region. Highly recommended.
