Susie's Pool at Cirkewwa is an advanced dive site at Malta's northern tip, where a natural rock pool connects to the open Mediterranean through an underwater passage. This unique geological formation creates a sheltered entry point that leads to dramatic deep-water diving along the Cirkewwa coast. The pool is a natural basin in the limestone coastline, filled with calm, clear seawater. Divers enter the pool and descend through an underwater opening that leads to the open reef system. The transition from the calm pool into the exposed reef creates an exciting moment of contrast, with the sheltered entry giving way to the dynamic open-water environment beyond. The reef outside Susie's Pool features walls, boulder fields, and complex terrain that drops into deeper water. The limestone formations create swim-throughs, overhangs, and crevices at various depths, providing extensive exploration opportunities. The site's proximity to the Cirkewwa wrecks means marine life benefits from the nearby artificial reef structures. Marine life includes groupers, moray eels, wrasses, and damselfish on the reef, with the occasional amberjack or barracuda passing through. Octopuses inhabit the boulder field, and blennies peer from tiny holes in the limestone with characteristic curiosity. The advanced rating reflects the depth of the outer reef sections and the exposure to current along the north coast. The pool entry provides shelter but the open water beyond can be challenging. Visibility at Cirkewwa frequently exceeds 30 metres. Water temperatures from 15 to 26 degrees. Susie's Pool provides a unique entry experience to Malta's renowned Cirkewwa diving area.
