Cirkewwa Arch is a beginner-friendly dive site at Malta's northern tip, where a natural limestone archway creates one of the island's most photogenic underwater features at accessible depths. Located near the Gozo ferry terminal, this site is often combined with visits to the nearby P-29 and Rozi wrecks for a comprehensive Cirkewwa diving day. The arch is formed in the limestone reef, creating a passage large enough for divers to swim through comfortably. Natural light illuminates both sides of the arch, creating dramatic framing effects for photography. The arch's manageable depth makes it accessible to newly certified divers, providing an exciting swim-through experience without the demands of deep or advanced overhead environment diving. The surrounding reef supports typical Mediterranean marine life, with sponges, tunicates, and algae colonising the limestone surfaces. Posidonia seagrass beds border the reef, providing nursery habitat for juvenile fish. The rocky terrain creates crevices and overhangs that shelter wrasses, damselfish, groupers, and octopuses. The easy shore access from Cirkewwa's concrete platform and the gentle conditions make this an ideal site for training dives and for building confidence with Mediterranean reef diving. The arch itself serves as a natural focal point that makes navigation intuitive. Visibility typically exceeds 25 metres in Malta's clear waters. Water temperatures range from 15 to 26 degrees. Cirkewwa Arch delivers a genuinely exciting beginner dive at one of Malta's most popular diving areas.
