Lantern Point on Comino Island is a beginner-friendly reef dive at the southern end of the island, where a rocky headland creates varied underwater terrain at accessible depths. Named for the navigation lantern that marks the point above water, this site offers relaxed Mediterranean reef diving with Comino's characteristic water clarity. The underwater landscape features a gently sloping reef of limestone boulders and reef formations extending from the headland. Sandy patches between rock formations create diverse microhabitats, while the headland's gentle profile means depth increases gradually and predictably. The sheltered side of the point provides calm conditions even when winds affect more exposed sites. The reef supports healthy Mediterranean marine communities. Posidonia seagrass beds border the reef, providing nursery habitat and food sources. The rocky surfaces host sponges, tunicates, and algae in typical Maltese fashion, while the seagrass meadows add their own distinct ecology. Marine life includes the friendly Mediterranean species that make Maltese diving appealing to beginners. Ornate wrasses, damselfish, and bream patrol the reef, while octopuses and cuttlefish provide engaging encounters. The point's proximity to open water occasionally brings sightings of larger species including amberjack. The beginner rating reflects the gentle depth, sheltered conditions, and easy navigation around the point. The site is accessed by boat from Malta or Comino, with dive centres offering the site as part of Comino diving day trips. Visibility regularly exceeds 25 metres. Water temperatures from 15 to 26 degrees. Lantern Point is a pleasant and accessible Comino reef dive.

Absolutely stunning dive site. The visibility was exceptional and we spotted several species we had never seen before. Will definitely come back.
Great spot for advanced divers. Currents can be tricky but the marine life makes it worth it.
One of the best dive sites in the region. Highly recommended.
