Debbie's Beach is a welcoming beginner dive site in the waters of Hon Mun Island — one of the inner islands of Nha Trang Bay within Vietnam's Hon Mun Marine Protected Area, where the close proximity of multiple reef zones to the island's sheltered beaches creates ideal conditions for easy shore or boat-based diving in calm, warm water. The site sits in the bay's characteristically clear water at depths accessible to newly certified divers, with the coral reef beginning close to the beach and extending gradually to comfortable recreational depths. The Hon Mun MPA encompasses 160 square kilometers of marine habitat including seagrass beds, mangroves, and the coral reef systems that are the primary focus of Nha Trang's diving industry, and the protection it provides has allowed the reef at Debbie's Beach to maintain the coral diversity and fish abundance that make Nha Trang Bay one of Southeast Asia's best accessible reef diving destinations. The site's reef features the layered coral community typical of the inner Hon Mun zone: staghorn and table Acropora corals in the shallows give way to massive coral formations at depth, providing the full range of reef structure that different species depend on. Chromis and damselfish hover in shimmering formations above the coral canopy. Various butterflyfish pairs work the reef surface. Moray eels — giant, geometric, and snowflake species — inhabit the reef crevices in good variety. Sea turtles make regular appearances at Hon Mun sites, facilitated by the MPA's protection from the fishing pressure that has depleted their populations in less protected areas. The beginner-friendly character, calm bay conditions, and easy boat access from Nha Trang waterfront make Debbie's Beach an excellent starting point for a day of Hon Mun island diving.
