Castle Rock is an intermediate dive site on the Ribbon Reefs section of the outer Great Barrier Reef. This massive coral bommie rises from 27 meters to within a few meters of the surface, resembling a medieval castle in its imposing structure. The walls are covered in spectacular coral gardens with large sea fans, gorgonians, and soft corals. The site is famous for encounters with potato cod, Maori wrasse, and whitetip reef sharks that patrol the deeper sections.
