Black Beauty at Turneffe Islands is an advanced wall dive named for the extraordinary abundance of black coral trees that decorate the deep wall from 20 meters downward. These ancient organisms, some hundreds of years old, create a dark forest effect along the wall face that is both haunting and beautiful. The upper reef at 12-18 meters features healthy hard coral coverage with large brain corals and star corals. The wall attracts big marine life — large groupers, Caribbean reef sharks, and spotted eagle rays are frequently encountered. The site's depth and current require solid experience but deliver a world-class wall diving experience.
