Colusium at Turneffe Islands is an intermediate dive site featuring a grand semicircular reef formation resembling a Roman coliseum. The natural amphitheater is formed by tall coral ridges that curve inward, creating a sheltered arena where marine life congregates. The sandy center at 15 meters is a gathering point for southern stingrays and garden eels, while the curved walls support lush growths of sea fans, whip corals, and barrel sponges. Schools of Creole wrasse and blue chromis fill the space above the arena. The unique topography creates a sense of enclosed underwater theater that divers find captivating.
