Bajo el Cerro de la Cruz in Zapallar is an advanced dive site beneath the prominent hillside cross landmark on the Chilean coast. The underwater terrain features steep rocky walls and boulder fields dropping into deeper water, with the Humboldt Current creating demanding conditions with strong surge and variable visibility. Dense kelp forests cloak the upper walls while the deeper sections reveal large lobsters, predatory fish, and complex invertebrate communities. Absolutely stunning dive site. The visibility was exceptional and we spotted several species we had never seen before. Will definitely come back.
Great spot for advanced divers. Currents can be tricky but the marine life makes it worth it.
One of the best dive sites in the region. Highly recommended.
