El Cangilón is a dive site at Isla de la Juventud in Cuba's Punta Francés National Marine Park. This reef site features a natural basin formation in the seabed that creates a sheltered area where marine life congregates. The reef walls surrounding the basin are covered with healthy corals, sponges, and sea fans typical of Cuba's exceptionally preserved Caribbean reef systems. Schools of grunts, snappers, and angelfish populate the reef, while nurse sharks and sea turtles are regular visitors. The protected marine park setting and Cuba's limited diving pressure ensure pristine conditions that showcase Caribbean reef life at its healthiest.
