El Pasaje Escondido (The Hidden Passage) is an advanced dive at Isla de la Juventud in Cuba. This thrilling site features a secret swim-through passage carved into the reef wall, leading divers through a narrow coral-encrusted corridor into a hidden reef amphitheater. The passage walls are covered with colorful sponges and encrusting organisms, while large tarpon and groupers inhabit the darker sections. Beyond the passage, the open reef features pristine coral gardens and abundant fish life. The confined space navigation requires advanced buoyancy control and proper training, but the dramatic reveal of the hidden reef beyond makes El Pasaje Escondido one of the most memorable dives at Punta Francés.
