MarÃa is an advanced dive in the Trinidad-Cienfuegos area on Cuba's southern Caribbean coast. This deep reef site features dramatic coral formations along the continental shelf edge, where the shallow reef platform drops into deeper water. The wall and reef structure support large gorgonian fans, barrel sponges, and black coral in the deeper sections, while schools of jacks, snappers, and barracuda patrol the reef edges. The relatively unexplored waters off Trinidad offer pristine reef conditions with less diving traffic than Cuba's more famous destinations. Strong currents and depth require advanced skills, making MarÃa a rewarding dive for experienced divers exploring Cuba's south coast.
