Sha'ab Abu Kalawa is an intermediate dive site north of Hurghada in Egypt's Red Sea, featuring a large reef system with dramatic walls and overhangs. The reef structure creates channels and swim-throughs that funnel currents and concentrate marine life. Soft corals in vivid purples and oranges cascade down the walls, while schools of barracuda and trevally patrol the open water. The varied topography provides something for everyone, from coral garden exploration to drift diving along the current-swept reef edges.
