Bastion

Bastion is an advanced dive site off Puerto de la Cruz on Tenerife's dramatic north coast, featuring a fortress-like volcanic rock formation that rises from the seabed. The site's namesake bastion creates a natural defensive wall with multiple levels, overhangs, and cavities teeming with marine life. Large groupers guard the deeper alcoves, while schools of barracuda and amberjack circle the structure in the open water. The bastion walls are colonized by sponges, hydroids, and colorful anemones, with nudibranchs and fireworms adding detail to every surface. The northern exposure brings challenging currents and nutrient-rich waters, making this a rewarding but demanding dive for experienced adventurers.
