Cueva de las Morenas is an advanced cave dive off southern Tenerife, named for the moray eels (morenas) that inhabit this volcanic cavern system in great numbers. The cave features multiple entrances and chambers connected by passages, with the rocky walls providing countless hiding spots for both Mediterranean and black moray eels. Inside the caves, shrimp, crabs, and small crustaceans add to the ecosystem, while the external reef hosts groupers, barracuda, and sea turtles. Light effects in the cave entrances create atmospheric blue-water backdrops for photography. The overhead environment and potential currents require proper cave diving awareness and experience.
