La Bombilla is an advanced dive site on the western coast of La Palma in the Canary Islands, located near the area dramatically reshaped by the 2021 Cumbre Vieja volcanic eruption. This unique site offers divers the chance to explore newly formed volcanic underwater terrain, where fresh lava flows have created an otherworldly landscape of basalt formations. The young reef is gradually being colonized by pioneering marine species, providing a fascinating glimpse of ecological succession in action. Deeper sections host established Atlantic species including barracuda, groupers, and moray eels. Strong currents and the site's exposure to the open Atlantic demand good experience and proper planning.
