Piedras Altas is an advanced deep dive off La Herradura on the Costa Tropical, reaching 36 meters depth at a series of tall underwater pinnacles. These 'high rocks' rise dramatically from the deep sandy bottom, their walls covered in gorgonian fans, sponges, and golden cup corals that thrive in the deeper Mediterranean waters. Large groupers, conger eels, and dentex patrol the pinnacles, while schools of barracuda sweep through the open water between them. The deeper sections may reveal eagle rays and the occasional sunfish during summer. The significant depth, current exposure, and offshore location make Piedras Altas one of La Herradura's most challenging and rewarding dives for experienced divers.
