Luonteri is a beginner-friendly freshwater lake dive in the Saimaa lake system of Eastern Finland, the largest lake district in Europe. The vast Luonteri lake offers serene diving in pristine waters surrounded by boreal forest. The lakebed features sandy shallows giving way to rocky deeper sections, with submerged logs and boulders creating habitat diversity. The lake is home to perch, pike, vendace, and the critically endangered Saimaa ringed seal — one of the world's rarest seals. Summer brings warm surface temperatures and long daylight hours, while the underwater silence and untouched natural setting provide a uniquely peaceful Finnish diving experience.
