Otravaara is an expert-level mine dive in Eastern Finland, where a flooded former mine offers one of Finland's most challenging and atmospheric underwater experiences. The mine's flooded chambers and passages create an extensive overhead environment requiring full technical diving equipment and mine or cave diving certification. Visibility in the groundwater-fed site can be extraordinary, sometimes exceeding 30 metres, revealing the geometric precision of human-carved rock walls. Water temperature remains constant near 4°C year-round. The combination of extreme depth potential, overhead hazards, and remote location makes Otravaara a destination exclusively for Finland's most experienced technical divers with proper training and support teams.
