Paakkila is a beginner-friendly freshwater dive site in Eastern Finland's Saimaa lake district, where the calm waters of one of Europe's largest lake systems provide an ideal setting for new divers. The lakebed features a mix of sand, rocks, and aquatic vegetation typical of the Finnish Lakeland. Perch, pike, and whitefish inhabit these clean waters, with crayfish hiding among the rock formations. The site offers easy shore access and gentle depth progression. Summer water temperatures are comfortable in the surface layers, though a wetsuit is recommended. Paakkila provides an authentic taste of inland Finnish diving in a beautiful boreal forest setting.
