Canyons is an advanced dive site off Kadavu island in southern Fiji, where dramatic underwater ravines cut through the coral reef, creating a labyrinth of passages and swim-throughs. The canyon walls are adorned with soft corals, sea fans, and colourful encrusting sponges that thrive in the nutrient-rich currents flowing through these natural channels. Reef sharks, barracuda, and large trevally patrol the canyon openings, while the sheltered passages harbour nudibranchs, pipefish, and cleaning stations. The Great Astrolabe Reef surrounding Kadavu is one of the world's largest barrier reefs, and Canyons showcases its most spectacular topography. Strong currents require advanced buoyancy skills.
