Rainbows End 1 is an intermediate dive at the northern end of the famous Rainbow Reef in the Somosomo Strait off Taveuni, Fiji. Named for the kaleidoscopic profusion of colourful soft corals, this site delivers the full Rainbow Reef experience — walls and overhangs draped in dendronephthya corals spanning every colour from electric pink to deep purple to bright yellow. The current flowing through the strait feeds these corals, which expand to their maximum size when conditions are right. Reef sharks patrol the deeper sections, while the shallower reef top teems with anthias, butterflyfish, and surgeonfish. Rainbow Reef is consistently rated among the world's top dive sites.
