Manchones Reef is an advanced dive site off Taveuni in Fiji's Somosomo Strait, where powerful currents sweep across a deep reef system creating exhilarating conditions for experienced divers. The reef features dramatic drop-offs and large coral formations battered by the strait's tidal flows. The current attracts big marine life — schooling hammerhead sharks are sometimes spotted in the blue, along with eagle rays, manta rays during seasonal migrations, and large schools of pelagic fish. The reef walls are plastered with soft corals that feed voraciously in the nutrient-rich flow. Advanced buoyancy skills and experience with strong currents are essential for this high-adrenaline Fijian dive.
