Fish Factory

Fish Factory is an intermediate dive in the Somosomo Strait off Taveuni, Fiji, and its name says it all — this site produces fish in staggering quantities. The nutrient-rich currents of the strait create a feeding frenzy that attracts enormous schools of fusiliers, surgeonfish, snappers, and jacks. Predators including grey reef sharks, barracuda, and tuna work the edges of the schools. The reef structure beneath the fish clouds is covered in healthy hard corals and Fiji's signature soft corals. The combination of big fish action and vibrant coral scenery makes Fish Factory one of the Somosomo Strait's most exciting and reliable dives, best timed with incoming current.
