Maria's Cove is an intermediate dive in a sheltered bay off Taveuni, Fiji, offering a more relaxed alternative to the current-swept sites of the Somosomo Strait. The cove's protected waters feature a healthy fringing reef sloping to sandy bottom, with excellent coral cover including massive porites heads, branching acropora, and colonies of soft coral. The calm conditions make it ideal for leisurely exploration and macro photography — nudibranchs, flatworms, and commensal shrimp reward patient observers. Green and hawksbill turtles frequently feed in the cove, and octopus hunt among the coral rubble. A peaceful, colourful dive that showcases Fiji's reef biodiversity without demanding strong current skills.
