Heian Maru is the largest wreck in Truk Lagoon and an advanced dive in Chuuk, Micronesia. This 155-metre Japanese submarine tender was sunk during Operation Hailstone in 1944 and now lies on her port side in 34 metres of water. The ship's enormous scale is awe-inspiring — swimming along the hull takes multiple dives to fully explore. The holds contain torpedoes, periscopes, and other submarine equipment, offering a haunting glimpse into the Japanese Imperial Navy's Pacific operations. Coral-encrusted deck structures, massive propellers, and the bridge area are highlights. Large groupers, turtles, and sharks inhabit the wreck. A monumental dive on one of WWII's most significant underwater wrecks.
