Yamagiri Maru is an advanced wreck dive in Truk Lagoon, Chuuk, Micronesia, featuring a 133-metre Japanese cargo ship famous for carrying some of the most dramatic cargo in the lagoon. The forward hold contains massive 18-inch artillery shells intended for the battleship Musashi — these enormous projectiles, each the height of a person, create one of Truk's most unforgettable images. The ship sits on her side in 34 metres of water, with coral growth decorating the exposed hull. The engine room offers impressive penetration opportunities for qualified wreck divers. Large groupers, turtles, and whitetip sharks frequent the wreck. Yamagiri Maru is essential diving for anyone visiting Truk Lagoon.
